Yalda : Iranian Woman
A new play by Roya Amiri and Dave Windass
Yalda isn’t certain who she is. She grew up in the east of a post-industrial northern British city, the first child of an English mother and Iranian father.
Yalda, not quite English, not quite Iranian but definitely – especially to everyone she meets – ‘other’, has reached a crossroads. She has big decisions to make. New York’s on the horizon. Iran is also calling. But something is keeping her here.
On this, the longest night, she wants some answers. She’s looking for the truth. And she’s had enough of everyone else.
For anyone that’s ever felt lost, alone and adrift in the world.
